Join us at Stoneleigh Park for an advanced two-day Masterclass dedicated to the design and manufacture of specialist blacksmithing tools.

As techniques become more refined, the need for precise, reliable, and purpose-built tools becomes essential. This advanced course is designed for experienced blacksmiths looking to expand their technical capability by developing a deeper understanding of tool geometry, material behaviour, and performance-specific tooling.

Across two days, you’ll explore the principles behind high-performance toolmaking, including steel selection for specialist applications, advanced forging strategies, and the critical relationship between form, mass, and efficiency. You’ll produce a series of complex tools such as hardy tools, spring swages, tong making, working through each stage from controlled forging and profiling to precision heat treatment and finishing.

Through in-depth demonstrations and focused practical work, you’ll examine how tool design dictates energy transfer, how to minimise fatigue through ergonomic shaping, and how to achieve consistency across sets of tools. This Masterclass gives you the skills and insight to create robust, professional-quality tooling tailored to demanding forge work.

  • How to Book

    Booking a course with The Iron Scribe Co is simple:

    1. Choose your preferred course and date on our website.

    2. Complete the online booking form with your details.

    3. Make payment in full to secure your place.

    4. You will automatically receive an email confirming your booking.

    If you do not receive confirmation within 24 hours, please contact us so we can check everything is in order.

    Booking Confirmation

    Once your booking and payment have been received, you will receive:

    • A confirmation email containing course details, start/finish times, what to bring, and any safety requirements

    • A reminder email closer to the course date

    Your booking is not guaranteed until payment has been received in full.

    Cancellations by the Customer

    We understand plans can change. Our cancellation terms follow standard UK consumer regulations:

    • 14-Day Cooling-Off Period:
      If you book online, you may cancel within 14 days of purchase for a full refund unless the course takes place within the 14 days or has already begun.

    • Cancellations After 14 Days:

      • More than 21 days before the course date – full refund or free transfer to another available date.

      • Between 7–21 days before the course date – 50% refund or transfer to another date for a £25 admin fee.

      • Less than 7 days before the course date – no refund, but you may transfer your place to another person at no extra charge.

    No-shows during the course are non-refundable.

    Cancellations by The Iron Scribe Co

    In rare circumstances (e.g., instructor illness, unsafe weather for outdoor sessions, or minimum numbers not met), we may need to cancel or reschedule a course.

    If this happens, you will be offered:

    • A full refund, or

    • A free transfer to another available date

    The Iron Scribe Co is not responsible for travel, accommodation, or other associated costs.

    Refunds

    Refunds are processed using the same payment method you used to book.
    Please allow 5–10 working days for funds to appear in your account.

    Tools will be provided for each course, but you are welcome to bring your own favourite hammer and tongs.

    You will need to bring along and wear, safety glasses, safety boots/ shoes, ear protection, non-flammable clothing.
