Founded by award-winning blacksmith Adam Greenwell AWCB LWCB, The Iron Scribe Co is dedicated to the preservation and creation of fine ironwork.
In 2003, Adam was awarded the Queen Elizebeth Scholarship and completed his degree in Architectural and Ornamental Forged Ironwork, leading to a successful career in the conservation and restoration of historic ironwork. In 2016, he was appointed Senior Lecturer of the BA (Hons) Artist Blacksmithing programme at Hereford College of Arts, where he gained recognition for his innovative approach to craft education.
After many successful years in higher education, Adam has established The Iron Scribe Co to focus his passion on advancing the craft through practice, consultancy, and mentorship. Alongside exhibiting and lecturing internationally, he continues to promote excellence in forged metalwork and the safeguarding of blacksmithing skills. In 2023, he was awarded the Freedom of the City of London and became a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths.
We offer specialist services in traditionally forged ironwork, heritage restoration, consultancy, masterclasses, and education. Central to its ethos is the belief that craft excellence is sustained through the responsible stewardship of heritage skills.
